Anyone actually in the game knows what’s going on, but if you’re reading this and you actually aren’t in the game, I’ll lay it out: The horrors of the winter season did a number on our 13th Age game. Well, it was more like the tedium of fall did a number on it, and then the horrors of winter picked its bones, but either way, the game pretty much died. We lost a lot of momentum, which was pretty hard to get back. In fact, it took a total reboot of the game to get it back, but the important thing is that, yes, we did actually get it back.
We lost livioroxas, but the rest of us came to the game. There were a couple character switches and a change of in-setting venue and direction. We left the previous game exactly where we left it with no attempt made to reconcile where things were going. Queenbigtoe decided to carry Malika over to the new game and D_Raino and Osmotic decided to bring in new characters. The focus of the game, as you can see on right here on the Home Page, now revolves around the characters’ presence in a fairly morally ambiguous mercenary group.
Another thing you might notice, which will be new to the players in the game as well, is that we’ve now got a subtitle. It’s not really a huge deal, but I mention it because I kind of hope that it’s something that actually can kind of become a big deal. I have no idea if this’ll pan out, because honestly, I don’t know how long Queenbigtoe and I will be local, how long all of our schedules will cooperate or what other dooms might lurk in the shadow for this game, but I’m hoping that this page can grow to encompass not just this story, but can actually become sort of a hub for several 13th Age games. I’m hoping that we can tell this tale in chapters, sometimes with different focuses or themes, involving our continually growing Dragon Kingdom. I hope that moving forward, we can tell the tales of not only Tobel, Malika, and Albus, but of their companions in the Stone Wolves, or their rivals in another company, or some tangentially related characters at a wizard school in Horizon. Maybe one day we’ll find out how things panned out in Newport.
But anyway, let’s not focus TOO much on that yet. The important thing is that An Age Unbegun: Not Wolves, but Men is well underway. Look forward to it!
