An Age Unbegun: Not Men, but Wolves
Paladin of Ygses, Keeper of the Flaming Blade
Joachim is a tall man who might, at one time, been slight of build. Years of martial training have worn away any thing that might have been mistaken as softness from him. He may have once worn the elaborate braids his family is known for, but his platinum blond hair is now kept short and tidy. He’d be handsome, were it not for a distinctive (and no doubt, painfully acquired) bend in his just-too-long nose.
In another life, Joachim could have been a very different man. He was born into wealth and status, but he gave it all up for love when, against his family’s wishes, he swore himself to a woman of lower status. When she didn’t show up to the small wedding ceremony he was able to arrange, he was crushed. When he learned that she had fallen into the arms of a rival merchant, he despaired. When that merchant was able to strike a lucrative deal with his family and take over what had been his business… he got even.
No one will ever again have what should rightfully be his.
Most people would think Joachim is a man defeated. He’s lost his keep. He’s lost his holy relics. One of his best men was killed by a demonspawn that he had imprisoned.
However, there can be no vengeance, without adversity. There can be no flame without kindling. Joachim feels the fire burning within him, hotter and brighter than ever. Where he was once aimless and without direction, he has been given purpose. No one will ever again have what should rightfully be his.
